Abernethy Contracting is looking for a Pipe Foreman to join our team in the Charlotte area.  If you have experience as a Pipe Foreman, take safety seriously and can adapt to a changing work site, this is right up your alley.  The ideal candidate will enjoy leading, solving problems, working as part of a team and working towards a common goal. 

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Oversee crew performing site work.
  • Read and understand project plans and specifications.
  • Communicate construction needs --material, equipment, and staffing in a timely manner to Superintendent to prevent delays.
  • Inspect work areas throughout construction process to ensure the quality and accuracy of work meets specifications and that crew meets productivity goals.
  • Monitor and ensure that crew follows safety policies and procedures.
  • Complete required reports (JHA, production, personnel time and attendance, vehicle, safety, inspection) on a daily basis.
  • Oversee development and cross training of crew.
  • Responsible for daily inspection of equipment and reporting of downed machinery to Superintendent.
  • Recommend and implement measures to improve production methods and equipment performance to improve efficiency.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a utility/pipe foreman.
  • Proficient in main dig excavator and mini excavator.
  • Sense of urgency and ability to respond to changing situations is a must.
  • Ability to adapt, prioritize and complete projects in a changing construction environment.
  • Ability to read drawings, plans, and blueprints and convey this information to others is a must.
  • Ability to shoot grade and calculate slope percentages.
  • Ability to communicate problems with solutions regarding any utility work and any scope.
  • Ability to use technology, including iPad.
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Commitment to safe work practices.
  • Ability to work overtime as needed.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation are a must.
  • Have the ability to travel within 60-75 miles of the greater Charlotte Metro Area.
  • Must pass a pre-employment background screening.
